Running fans, make a note of the date. April 14th, 2019 sees the 43rd edition of the Paris Marathon. Registration is already open for those wishing to participate. Don’t forget to reserve your room and bring your running shoes! Or, if you’re not up to the rigorous challenge of marathon running, come along anyway to cheer on the brave runners and enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere.
43 years of a great sporting challenge
This world-famous marathon running event covering a distance of 42.195 km across the capital has taken place annually since 1976. Sporting enthusiasts and the world’s greatest long-distance runners would not miss it for anything. Take your place on the starting line on April 14th and get ready to meet an immense challenge with sheer grit, determination and physical fitness as you wend your way along the capital’s most prestigious arteries. You’ll feel Paris under your feet with every stride and have an experience you will never forget.
A course filled with stirring sights
The start will be at 8:30. The course, which forms an almost complete loop, begins at the top of the Champs-Élysées. The runners then head east to the Bastille, then the Porte de Vincennes via the Place de la Nation. They then take the Boulevard Soult to the Porte Dorée. Then follows a loop in the Bois de Vincennes and a return to Paris via the Porte de Charenton. The circuit continues to the Avenue Daumesnil and the Place de la Bastille, to reach the banks of the Seine at the end of the Boulevard Henri IV. Then it’s into the Bois de Boulogne via the Porte d'Auteuil. The finishing line is on the Avenue Foch.
